Sending a mass text message from your phone

We don’t always have access to a computer, so sometimes it is necessary (or just convenient) to send out a text message by texting in to the system.  Here are step-by-step instructions on how to make this happen.

Step 1) Log in to your control panel

  • Open up your web browser and go to “https://mobile-text-alerts.com/login”
  • Enter the username and password that you chose when you created your account (if you can’t remember your username or password or have other issues, send us an email and we will help you out)
  • Click “Login”

Step 2) Switch to the ‘Users’ tab

Once you have logged in, click the “Users” tab

Step 3) Insert a User

Once you are on the Users tab, click the ‘Insert User’ button

Step 4) Set Up Your Administrator User
After inserting a user, a new row will appear in the users grid below. Double click the ‘Phone Number’ field and add the phone number you would like to be able to send messages from. Also, check the ‘Administrator’ checkbox. You can ignore the ‘Username,’ ‘Password’, and other fields for now

Step 5) Send Your Message

You are now set up to send out messages by texting in. Using the phone number you set up in Step 4, send the message: “all This is my test text message” to 229-299-8227 (don’t send the quotation marks as part of your message).

This will send the message ‘This is my test text message’ to the ‘all’ group (which is everyone on your account) If you would like to send a message to a particular group, you can replace ‘all’ with the name of your group.

Sending the message “staff No meeting tomorrow” (no quotations) to the 229 number will send the message “No meeting tomorrow” to the “staff” group.

NOTE: This only works for groups that are one word, trying to send a message to the “staff members” group will not work
