Has anyone ever tried speed reading?

This post really has nothing to do with Mobile Text Alerts, and is really more just about my curiosity.  Has anyone ever tried speed reading?

I recently stumbled across http://www.spreeder.com/ and I thought it was very interesting.  I read quite a bit, so I thought this tool might really help save a lot of time.

Basically the premise is that you most people read slowly because they “say” every word in their mind as they are reading (similar to if you were reading out loud).  The secret behind spreeder is to “teach” yourself to stop repeating words in your mind.

Does anyone else have any experience with spreeder or any similar service?  How is comprehension when you are reading 900 WPM instead of 200 WPM?
